2020 RAMADAN: A SACRIFICE FOR HEALING

Alhamdulillahi!!!, De Norsemen Kclub International stànds in solidarity with Muslims as they begin their 2020 Ramadan in a special manner.

As a non-religious and apolitical humanitarian organization, we call on our Muslim brothers and sisters to see this year’s Ramadan as a sacrifice for healing at this time that the world is weighed down with the novel Corona Virus, COVID-19 pandemic, which has infected over two million people and killed over one hundred and eighty-two thousand people across the world.

Ramadan is the holiest and the most sacred period in the life of Muslims. It is a month of fasting, prayer, abstinence from pleasure and nearness to Almighty Allah. At this period, Muslims imbibe the spirit of self-control, sacrifice, spiritual exercise, charity and generosity.

The principles and fundamentals of Ramadan aptly blends with the mood of the world which is presently in dire need of spiritual healing and physical succour as a result of the various difficulties posed by COVID-19, as many countries have completely shutdown economic, social and political activities. The world needs prayers. The world needs materials and food to withstand the ravaging and destructive force of this global pandemic.

All Muslims, especially our Muslim members, should commit this holy season to pray for the healing of those infected with Corona Virus in Nigeria and other countries. Those who do not have food should be provided with food. Those who are sick should be provided with drugs. Those who are naked should be provided with clothes. These are the demands of this sacred season.

This year’s Ramadan will be observed in the most unusual way as a result of the various restrictions and lockdowns across the country and the world in general. Consequently, in adherence to regulations from the Holy Mosque in Saudi Arabia and the declaration of the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, there would be no Ramadan lectures and congregational prayers. This is to allow Muslims to imbibe the protocols regarding the prevention of the spread of the dangerous virus.

De Norsemen Kclub International uses this medium to thank the Sultan for standing on the side of humanity and appeal to our brothers and sisters in Islam to abide by the directives of this respected spiritual leader as well as that of the government and stay at home and shun every form of gathering at this perilous time.

Our supplications to Almighty Allah, the merciful and the compassionate, will be answered from anywhere it is done. As we make this sacrifice for the good of humanity, our intercessions will wipe away COVID-19 from the face of the Earth.

Subha Allah, ar-Rahman ar-Rahim.

Ramadan Kareem!
